FISH FESTIVAL 2023

The College of Fisheries, Mangalore organized ‘Fish Festival-2023’ in collaboration with National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad during 27-28, January, 2023.

Nearly 600 participants registered for the event on both the days respectively which included Entrepreneurs, Self help groups, Industrialists, Academicians and students. 800 School children were a part of the event as an educational visit.

On this occasion Expert Talks, Exhibition, Fish Recipe Competition, Photo & Poster competition, Art camp and  Farmers interaction session were organized.

 

2022

One day training programme under Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) grant- 2022

On account of Fish Farmers day 2022, College of Fisheries, Mangaluru conducted a one day training programme on  “Modern Technologies in Fish Farming'' under Tribal sub Plan(TSP) on 11th July 2022. 
The trainers with expertise in Cage culture, Ornamental Fisheries and Fish breeding were delivered the talk and some of the progressive farmers shared their success stories which motivated and encouraged the trainees. A total of 50 trainees benefited from this training programme.

 

College of Fisheries, Mangaluru observed World Fish Migration Day (WFMD) and World Biodiversity Day on 23rd May, 2022

The College of Fisheries, Mangalore in collaboration with Bay of Bengal Programme- IGO, Department of Fisheries, GOK and Asian Fisheries Society Indian Branch observed World Fish Migration Day (WFMD) and World Biodiversity Day on 23rd May, 2022 in the College.

 

World Water Day webinar - A webinar was organized on 22/03/2022 on occasion of World Water Day on the topic “Valuing Water for Present and Future''.

  • Dr. Somashekar, Prof. and Head Dept of Fisheries Economics, Statistics and Extension welcomed the participants and the speakers.
  • Dr. T. V. Ramachandra, coordinator of Energy and Wetlands Research Group at Center of Ecological Sciences, Dr. M. G. Chandrakanth, Former director of Institute of Social and Economic, Bangalore and Dr. Girish S. K., Associate Professor and Head Department of Aquatic Animal Health Management, College of Fisheries, Mangalore were the three eminent speakers with diverse knowledge and experience in the field of environment, ecology and sustainability.

College of Fisheries, Mangaluru signed and Exchanged MoU between KVAFSU and KSDC at Udyoga Mela Mangalore in presence of Honorable Minister of Higher Education, IT and BT, Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Shri. Dr Ashwath Narayan, GoK and Hon'ble Member of Parliament Shri. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shri. Dr. Bharath Shetty, Member of Legislative Assembly, Shri. Vedavyas Kamath, Member of Legislative Assembly, GoK and other dignitaries.

International Coastal Cleanup Day on September 24th, 2021 held at Tannirbhavi Beach, Mangaluru Organized by Department of Fisheries Economics, Statistics and Extension, College of Fisheries, Mangalore.

 

The Department staffs are actively involved in composing and publishing the Quarterly Newsletter from 2019 to 2021 “Flying Fish” and also published College brochure.
