World Wetlands Day-2019

World Wetlands Day 2019 was celebrated in the College in collaboration with the Karnataka Science and Technology Academy, Bengaluru on 12nd February 2019. The inaugural of the programme was held at 10.30 AM in the Prof. HPC Shetty Hall.

This day was celebrated to commemorate and to raise awareness of wetland values, its benefits, promote the conservation and wise use of wetlands among the Students and Faculty . It marks the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) in Ramsar, Iran, on 2 February 1971.

The theme was: WETLANDS AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Dr. G. Santhosh Kumar, Assistant commissioner (Revenue), D.K inaugurated the programme while Dr. Prakash Netalkar, IFS, Managing Director, Karnataka Cashew Development Board, Mangaluru was the Guest of Honour. Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director NITK, Surathkal, Mangalore was the Chief Guest. Dr. H. Shivananda Murthy, Dean (Fisheries) presided over the function.

Sri. V.K. Srininivas, Scientific Officer, KSTA, Bengaluru and Dr. Gangadhar Gowda, Professor and Head, Dept. of Aquatic Environment Management, CoF were Programme co-ordinators.

The programme was then followed by a Quiz competition and Poster presentation. Several students from various institutions had participated in the programme.
